Thursday, June 21, 200746: Mon Ange, little angel he calls me
I saw how overjoyed he was, at the painting of me. So I touched his sleeve and said he could keep it. I was just kidding. Did he appear gaunt? Poor thing. His eyes seemed small with lack of rest, grey cracked lips and messy hair. Lestat cuddled me. A smile broke out and brought a shine to his face.
“ How long did you take? Wow, you tried painting too?”
“ Well, about 3 months. Haha, but it failed. I used crayons, stained my fingers and cloths. See? And there was once the water ruined my other drawing. That one sucks… this was a result I’m proud of.”
I laughed. Then the container of water toppled over. I was about to help him, but he said it was alright. I went downstairs to get some water. Bro came up.
Then an acute pain filled my head, and I wanted to weep. Soft music and Rowan whispered, God please. Give me more time. Please. Nooo. It was familiar this tune.
My bro exclaimed something. My cup slipped to the floor and had two pieces. Oh shit. Something happened. Lestat! He was worse.
The vampire lay in a pool of blood, increasing by the minute. His gasps punctured the air, as if he could not breathe. They don’t draw breath. I ran forward. He shook his head, sweaty skin, whites of his eyes showing only. It scared us.
Then he seemed to have a fit. He gagged.
Bro held me back. I prayed. When the seizure stopped, my friend relaxed. His skin ashen, fangs out, closed eyes. I took his hand.
“ It’s ok. We’re here. Don’t panic.” I said. Lestat murmured how sorry he was for staining the floor.
Then he said, “ Guys, it hurts a lot. Where’s.. Rowan?” he whispered.
The witch was coming. She only lived 20 minutes away, at Ritz. Daniel had asked her to come, thank Goddess Artemis. I felt movement. Omaga had appeared from behind. Lestat hummed a little song. “ Hello, man. You always come when I can’t make it.”
The owl hooted, rested his fingers on his wrist. Effusive white light. The patient went limp.
I was so sleepy with the tension that had left me, that I fell into bed. I vaguely recalled Quinn coming in to tell me Rowan was giving a blood transfusion. The youth kept me company for a while.
At midnight, Stat requested we see him. His friends had crowded the whole place. Now they were gone. We would freak out, shapeshifters do not like crowds. He was propped up, tubes running up his arm. “ You can go home now. You need to eat and sleep. I’m fine.”
In husky voice, she ordered him to lie down and shush. Lestat pouted and tapped his wrist. Then he crossed his long legs (now so long from his sickness). We really needed the flower. He was wearing shorts. No hair on his calves. Oh yea he was 21 when he died his mortal death, too young to have voice break. Reading this, Stat turned his head.
“ Bianca- cherie. Sit.” I walked over, restraining myself from flinging myself at him. Rowan stared at me intensely. We had met only briefly before, when I came for dinner. Louis and I met her at Ginord’s Place.
His whole body is hurting, his head aching. Don’t tire him.
I nodded and slipped into the chair next to my friend. His eyebrow went up. “ No hug?”
I touched his shoulder. “ Later. Hey have you seen Shrek 2? I can’t wait for the third one.”
Ditto for the wonder doc, she was too serious to have seen that. But she chuckled at my descriptions.
Louis remarked that it was showing now. The patient did not seem to have noticed. He was concentrating on his throbbing fingers. I felt very sad. He had just seemed better. A huge setback three paces.
“ Can we go see it? Please don’t go without me,” he whined. We said sure. Usually I saw with my daytime friends, it was alright to see it twice. I wouldn’t mind accompanying people to movies. Others don’t want to see shows twice! Yep just ranting a bit.
“ My love, are you better?” The gaunt preter startled. It seemed like his hearing was affected.
His friends all came to visit him. When I was showering, I heard the golden melodious voice call out Yay! I’ve got a play role! Can’t wait to perform!
That was so cool. Stat liked acting and singing. I wondered who invited him to. I only got disjoined thoughts scattered from this mind to that. Louis-- a deep troubled green and gladness of purple, Daniel’s whooping violet, Jennette’s yellow. Jennette is a lawyer who attends to the financial matters. Lestat loved her, he always told us about her these days. They discussed canines, wolves and classical music.
I see auras and thoughts in colors. It’s sort of exciting, but irritating when I need to concentrate. This time he heard me come in. “ Don’t try to creep up on me. What?” half angry, half surprised.
“ Why thou heard thine voice. Acting.”
“ Oooh lala. Marvellieux mon ange. Yep. I can do a supporting role. I’ll be a cat. It’s Santino.”
Bro meowed. He held up the magazine of cats. “This?”
“ Yep. A cat. Something like Les Miserables.” He lay down, exhausted. I took his hand.
Lestat slept immediately. The blankets were twisted. I pulled the cover to his chest. Little ripples of agony went through him. Red flashes in my mind. The vampire coughed and turned over on his side. His back was soaked by perspiration. Bro played a Mozart cd. I soaked a cloth.
